- Top Tips for Having a Less Stressful, Healthy and Active Christmas
- Walking
- Enjoy time with friends and family doing something active like going on the Discovery Walk on Saturday 27th December or Thursday 1st January. Find out more at http://www.discoveryrichmond.com/tours/walking/winter-holiday-walks/
- If you have visitors over Christmas then why not take them to Kew Gardens http://www.kew.org/visit-kew-gardens/whats-on for a night time walk?
- Visit Richmond Park and enjoy birdwatching with Friends of Richmond Park. They are hosting a number of walks over the Christmas and the New Year period. http://www.frp.org.uk/walks
- Alternatively, there are many regular walks being run by Health Walks for Richmond which can help you make a healthy start to 2015. http://www.walkingforhealth.org.uk/walkfinder/london/richmond-health-walks
- Swimming
- Go swimming at Hampton Pool which is open both Christmas Day and New Years Day. Swimming is a great way to improve your overall fitness. The contrast between the cold outdoor temperature and warm pool will also give your circulation a boost. http://www.hamptonpool.co.uk/
- De-stress
- If you’re feeling stressed then cuddle your pet and/or loved ones. Doing so releases the “feel good” chemicals; oxytocin, dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins that reduce cortisol levels; a stress hormone. This will boost the body’s immune system.
- Buy yourself, friends or family a voucher for a physiotherapy session here at St Margarets Clinic.
- Sign up to do a Mindfulness meditation course with Go Mindfully. An 8 week course starts next month. www.gomindfully.org.
